Effective November 1, we are replacing Liberty Mutual products with new carrier partners on the Liferaft platform for all new sales.

October 31, 2022

Liberty Mutual Discontinuing Product Line

Liberty Mutual will discontinue its supplemental insurance product line effective November 30, 2022. This change will impact all active policies and future sales of Liferaft products carried by Liberty Mutual, including our Hospital Supplement, Critical Illness Supplement, Cancer-Only Critical Illness Supplement, and Accident Supplement. Liferaft Hospital Supplement and Critical Illness Supplement products carried by AIG are not impacted.

Effective November 1, we are replacing Liberty Mutual products with new carrier partners on the Liferaft platform for all new sales. Please keep an eye on your email for invitations to product webinars about our new carriers for Hospital, Accident, and Critical Illness Supplement products. You can watch a recording of an earlier webinar reviewing these changes above.

Hospital Supplement

Liferaft will replace the Liberty Mutual Hospital Supplemental Insurance product with a similar product offered by MetLife. This product will be available for future sales starting November 1. Note that Liferaft's Hospital Supplement product offered by AIG will not be impacted. Learn more about MetLife and AIG Hospital Supplements in our Hospital 101 product guide.

You can find MetLife HI rate sheets, Summary of Benefits, Certificate, and Claims Form in your Broker Portal > Broker Sales Tools > Forms & References.

To make the transition to selling MetLife as seamless as possible, we have created the following charts comparing MetLife and Liberty Mutual Hospital policies specifics. The monthly premiums for all levels of coverage will not change.

Critical Illness Supplement

Liferaft will be replacing the Liberty Mutual Critical Illness Supplemental Insurance product with a similar product offered by American Public Life (APL). This product will be available for future sales starting November 1.

Please note that Liferaft's Critical Illness Supplement product offered by AIG will not be impacted. You can learn more about both APL and AIG Critical Illness Supplements in our Critical Illness 101 product guide.

You can find APL CI rate sheets, Summary of Benefits, Certificate, and Claims Form in your Broker Portal > Broker Sales Tools > Forms & References.

To make the transition to selling APL as seamless as possible, we have created the following charts comparing the specifics of APL and Liberty Mutual Critical Illness policies. The monthly premiums for all levels of coverage will not change.

We are excited to share that APL Critical Illness provides coverage for even more conditions for the same affordable monthly premium. In this chart, you can see how APL expands on the coverage of Liberty Mutual's product.

Cancer-Only Critical Illness Supplement

With Liberty Mutual discontinuing its Cancer-Only Critical Illness policy, Liferaft will only offer a Cancer-Only Critical Illness product in states covered by AIG. AIG's Cancer Only and CancerPlus products are offered in 19 states (AK, AL, DE, FL, HI, IN, KY, LA, MS, NE, NV, NC, ND, OK, RI, SC, SD, WI, and WV). You can learn more about AIG products in our Critical Illness 101 product guide.

For clients outside the above states, we recommend that agents offer them APL's Critical Illness product, which provides expanded critical illness coverage for the same affordable monthly premium.

Accident Supplement

Liferaft will replace the Liberty Mutual Accident Supplemental Insurance product with a similar product offered by NFC. The monthly premiums for all levels of coverage will not change. The Liberty Mutual Accident product will no longer be available on the platform on November 1, 2022, and we will have the NFC Accident Supplement available as soon as possible.

NFC Accident Supplement will be available to sell in all 50 states + DC. For agents who had previously sold Liferaft's Accident Supplement Insurance backed by Liberty Mutual, we are happy to announce that our new product backed by National Family Care is identical to the LM product in terms of policy structure, cost, and benefits.

This chart below reviews some of the main policy details about Liferaft's Accident Supplemental Insurance product. You will notice there is no difference between the Liberty Mutual and National Family Care products.

Liferaft's Accident Supplemental Insurance offers coverage for inpatient costs, outpatient costs, and loss due to an accident. See the charts below for details about the specific coverage percentages. There are no differences in payout amounts between Liferaft's Accident product previously backed by Liberty Mutual and our new product now backed by National Family Care.

In addition to in-patient coverage, if your client receives outpatient care related to an accident that is also covered at the following levels.

For accidents that result in death or dismemberment, Liferaft's Accident Supplemental product also provides valuable coverage.
